Asda in negotiation to appoint Entertainment UK to supply Games products

March 30th 2007

Supermarket chain ASDA is in advanced discussions with a view to appointing Entertainment UK (E.UK) to supply all games software from August 2007. Detailed terms remain to be negotiated but it is anticipated that the appointment would be for a two-year term.

As the UK’s leading wholesale distributor of home entertainment products, the plan calls for E.UK to supply 322 of ASDA stores in the UK with all games software.

These advanced negotiations follow a tender process brought about by the end of ASDA’s contract with its existing supplier. ASDA attracts more than 12.5 million households each week, and is committed to home entertainment products as a key category.

Fergal Gara, General Manager for Music, Video and Games of ASDA comments:
"The games category is very exciting for ASDA and we intend to build further on our success to date.  We are delighted to be working with EUK on this next phase of our development. Through this relationship, we will continue to build on our close relationships with games publishers to deliver an even more effective retail experience for our customers.

Lloyd Wigglesworth, Managing Director at E.UK comments:
“We are extremely pleased to be working again with ASDA and very much look to grow its excellent games offering. EUK has a firm commitment to work with the UK’s leading retailers for mutual success and growth. ”
