Learning Environment

Entertainment UK (EUK) is passionate about encouraging staff to learn and develop during their time with the company. This process begins as soon as people join the business, with a comprehensive induction programme designed to ensure that employees quickly feel motivated and ready to contribute their ideas.

After an initial period of getting to know the business, employees work with their department managers to create their own personal development plan. This identifies future development requirements and details activities to maximise the employees learning and growth potential. In this way, the achievement of individual objectives is supported, thereby ensuring that the major threads of the company's overall strategy are also being realised.

To further facilitate staff development, EUK operate internal skills programmes, run Learning Resources Centres with books, CD Roms and DVD's, support further education courses and provide on-line and self-development tools. For people taking on management responsibility for the first time, EUK provide a specific programme that guides new managers through this difficult transitional period. High potential staff also have the opportunity to join the Woolworths Group Leadership Programme. Click on the link to the right for more details of the scheme.

To make the most of learning and development at EUK, employees are encouraged to take personal ownership of their learning needs to ensure that, from the large amount of resources available, they select those most appropriate to them and their future.

As part of EUK's commitment to development, the company has built a management development review process. This allows for the identification of our future leaders and ensures that appropriate development opportunities are pursued. This in turn helps individuals to hone the skills that they will need as they progress through various parts of the organisation.
