The History Of Entertainment UK (EUK)
Entertainment UK was founded over 30 years ago, initially trading as Record Merchandisers Ltd.
1966
Business founded by EMI Records to distribute music to non-specialist retailers
1986
Company aquired by The Kingfisher Group plc
1988
Company's name changed from Record Merchandisers Ltd to Entertainment UK Ltd (EUK)
1990 and beyond
Range of products distributed expanded to include VHS video, games, books and DVD
1991
Opened new distribution facility in Hayes, Middlesex
1999
Launched EUK Direct in response to the growing demand in the home fulfilment market
2000
Multi-million pound investment in new, state of the art Distribution Centre in Greenford, Middlesex
2001
Woolworths and Entertainment UK de-merged from Kingfisher Group plc. EUK becomes wholly owned subsiduary of the newly formed Woolworths Group
2003
Second purpose built site opened in Greenford, Middlesex to handle customer returns
2004
First products distributed digitally by Entertainment UK on behalf of retail customers
2005
Distribution capacity expanded still further. Additional site opened in Hayes, Middlesex to concentrate on Entertainment UK's growing presence in the books market
2006
Woolworths Group acquires Total Home Entertainment Distribution Limited (THE) to form part of Entertainment UK (EUK) division
2007
Competition Commission clears EUK's purchase of books wholesaler Bertrams
2007
New customer agreements reached for the supply of entertainment to Asda, Sainsbury's and Zavvi (formerly Virgin)
